In this lecture we will study an exceptional drawing by Michelangelo. In the four sections of this lecture we will focus primarily on the musculoskeletal construction of the torso, abdomen, pelvic and upper leg regions. Using a careful and methodical approach you will create a finished Ecorche drawing based on this figure. As a supplement to the lectures, Part 5 shows a timelapse development of a digital sculpture based on Michelangelo’s figure. In addition to functioning as a review of the material covered elsewhere in this section, you will also gain an understanding of how the front and back of the body relate to one another. The completed 3D model is also available for you to inspect as a reference tool.
